How the journey home works

Book in advance – preferably a couple of weeks beforehand. Provide your flight number, number of people and bags, and whether you need a child seat. The company tracks your flight, so the driver will be waiting even if you are delayed.
The arrivals hall. When you come out of the baggage reclaim area, the drivers stand in a row behind the barrier with name signs. Find your name – and the driver will take over.
Along the coast. The journey takes you via the A-7 motorway (Autovía del Mediterráneo) heading east, past Málaga, Rincón de la Victoria and Torre del Mar. After Nerja the landscape becomes dramatic: the motorway winds through tunnels and over high bridges with views of the cliffs at Maro and Cerro Gordo.
Welcome to the Costa Tropical. At the provincial border of Granada, the bay of La Herradura appears, and a few minutes later the driver takes the exit for Almuñécar and drives down to the beach at Velilla.
At your door. The car stops right outside Playa Tropical. If you haven't paid in advance, you pay the driver – by cash or card, depending on the company.

The return journey works the same way, just in reverse: The driver will pick you up at Playa Tropical and take you straight to the airport. Book so that you arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before departure – allow 1¼ hours for the journey, longer during rush hour and in the summer.

All prices below are for the whole car and one way – not per person (except for Suntransfers' shared shuttle). If you are also returning, it costs the same again. The driver will be waiting with a sign in the arrivals hall. The difference lies in the price, payment and how many reviews they have.

Family-run company from Mijas with British drivers and large, air-conditioned 9-seater minibuses (Ford Tourneo Custom) – plenty of legroom, luggage space, golf bags and pushchairs. Child and booster seats are free, and a trailer for golf equipment or extra luggage is also free. The drivers track your flight. Prices have remained fixed since 2015, and you can pay in advance via PayPal or pay the driver upon arrival.

Spanish booking portal where you book and pay online, and a local driver carries out the transfer. The lowest price we have found: Everything is included in the price – VAT, tolls and tips. Child seats are free. Choose "English-speaking driver" and "meet & greet" as options if you want to be met with a sign in the arrivals hall. Cash payment to the driver is not available.

Standard taxi

From the taxi rank outside the arrivals hall you can always get a taxi without booking in advance. It runs on a meter: approx. 130 € (≈ 970 kr.) during the day and 155 € (≈ 1,156 kr.) at night and on public holidays for 1–4 people. To get to the airport from home, you can call the taxi service in Almuñécar on +34 958 630 017 – agree on the price before setting off.
